WOMT Radio has come a long way since its founder, Francis Kadow, first went on the air at 5:30 PM on November 8, 1926. The location was the 2nd story of the Mikadow Theater Building, across from Washington Park. The call letters at that time stood for “World’s Only Mikadow Theater.” Francis and Lillian Kadow owned and operated the station until 1967, when it was purchased by Wisconsin Fuel & Light Company and was moved to its building on North 10th Street. Seehafer Broadcasting, with President and General Manager Don Seehafer, has owned and operated WOMT since January 1, 1970. The station’s studios and offices are at 3730 Mangin Street since 1980. |
