After a several-month stay at WMKC-FM in Oshkosh, Damon accepted a position at WOMT-AM in early November of 1977, and he has been employed in the lakeshore area ever since.  Damon has been married to his wife, Mary, since August of 1987, and together they have a daughter, Emily.  Damon has served in this community as an alderman for one term, covered the last term of the late mayor Anthony Dufek and the beginning of Kevin Crawford’s first term in office.

Damon has also been involved in the United Way as a campaign co-chairman and board member, is enshrined in the Lakeshore All-Sports Hall of Fame, honored on the Lincoln High School Athletics Wall of Fame,  is part of the Lashof Committee, and has served as an emcee of the Annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement Banquet for many years.  Damon has also been part of the Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center Board, American Legion Baseball Board of Directors, and St. Francis of Assisi Men’s Choir, among other pursuits.  Damon enjoys traveling with his family, walking, golfing, fishing, and, of course, covering all sorts of sports!

He recently received the "Friend" Award from the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association at their Hall of Fame Banquet in September of 2021.
