BRIAN NORTON
Sports Talk Co-Host and Afternoon Sports Announcer
Brian Norton was born in Rhinelander, WI, “Home of the Hodag”. Along with his family, he moved to Ashland, WI, in 1970 for five years, making many life-long cherished friendships. He moved back to Rhinelander in 1975 and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1980.
Brian has had a passion for sports for as long as he can remember and knew from the age of six that he wanted to grow up to be a Sports Broadcaster. He attended Trans American School of Broadcasting in Wausau, WI, in pursuit of that dream and got his first radio job at WFCL in Clintonville, WI. Soon after that, he had a chance to go home for a job at WOBT Radio in Rhinelander. Brian grew up listening to Todd McEldowney and Paul Ebert entertaining Hodag Nation for so many years and dreamed of calling Hodag games himself one day. That chance came in 1989 when Todd and Paul retired, and he was blessed to fill their shoes for the next 19 years.
Brian made the move to the Lakeshore in 2004 when Don Seehafer brought him on board, and he feels honored and privileged to have served the people of Northeast Wisconsin for over 17 years now. Notably, Brian has enjoyed co-hosting WOMT Sports Talk for the last 10 years.
Brian takes pride in being as prepared as possible to earn the trust of his listeners, and as Sports Talk prepares for its next chapter, he looks forward to continuing the legacy of bringing in live guests from an array of sports genres while doing his best to entertain and educate you on what’s happening in the sports world.
Two phrases that Brian tries to live by are “embrace the journey” and “always pursue perfection, knowing you’ll never achieve it, but during the process, you’ll achieve excellence.”
In his free time, Brian is a dog person and loves to enjoy his favorite foods, pasta, and cheesecake.
